Congratulations to Susanne Parker, a student at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., who is our winner for the 2009 Sylvia K. Burack Scholarship Award! Susanne will receive $500 and a year's subscription to The Writer for her winning essay, "Ode to Swing Dancing."

The Burack Scholarship Award is a writing contest for full-time college students in the U.S. and Canada. The award is made in memory of Sylvia K. Burack, a longtime editor-in-chief and publisher of The Writer, who was known for her dedication to helping writers and editors.
